Rivals adizero Combine: New Orleans takeaways

NEW ORLEANS – The Rivals Camp Series presented by adidas hit Louisiana this weekend with the Rivals adizero Combine on Saturday. More than 1,400 prospects showed up and competed, and 12 punched their ticket to Sunday's Rivals 3 Stripe Camp presented by adidas.
Here’s a breakdown from Saturday’s combine:
Another New Orleans standout tested very well at the combine. Barnes, who is in search of his first offer, has heard a lot from local programs such as Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette, as well as Memphis, Toledo, UTSA and Mississippi State. Barnes, of Landry-Walker, measured up at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds and posted a sub-5 40 time with a 4.35 5-10-5, a 28-inch vertical and a 102 broad jump.
Conerly posted one of the fastest 40 times of the combine. The 5-foot-10, 150-pounder from Sophie B. Wright in New Orleans ran a 4.52 along with a 104 broad, 26-inch vertical and 6.6 three-cone. Louisiana-Monroe, UTSA, Grambling, North Texas and Louisiana-Lafayette have all kept in touch with the versatile athlete, who is slotted to play cornerback at Sunday’s camp.
Harris may be the most slept-on quarterback in The Boot. The Comeaux dual-threat quarterback measured up at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds. He also clocked a 4.7 40 with a 6.9 three-cone to go with a 118 broad and 30-inch vertical. Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette and ULM are all monitoring Harris.
It was difficult not to notice LaCroix, an 8th grader from Monroe in North Louisiana who looked the part at Saturday’s combine. The 6-foot-7, 343-pounder already has the size to play offensive tackle in the SEC, so it’s not surprising to know that LSU, Alabama and Texas A&M are keeping up with LaCroix.
Matthews showed off exceptional athleticism on Saturday, clocking a 4.76 40 time at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds. He had a 4.4 5-10-5 shuttle to go along with 123 broad and 30.1 vertical jumps. Matthews has yet to claim an offer, but Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Southeastern, Southern and Louisiana-Lafayette are all keeping tabs.
McFarland came to the combine with offers from Louisiana Tech and ULM in hand, and justified his spot in the camp. The St. Augustine defensive back measured in a 6-foot and 182 pounds. He ran a 4.6 40 with a 4.39 5-10-5 shuttle to go along with a 7.12 three-cone. McFarland also posted a 106 broad and 26-inch vertical, and we’re expecting him to make some noise on Sunday. Arkansas State and Kansas State are also showing interest.
Miller earned an invite after an all-around impressive performance. An all-state performer as a junior, Miller has yet to receive his first offer, but programs such as Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette have already hosted him for visits. Many programs are waiting to see Miller perform in camp before offering and if he can perform for schools like he did on Saturday, it won’t be long before he has FBS offers rolling in.
Morgan was one of the fastest prospects of the day, clocking an impressive 4.5-second 40 time. The Catholic-Baton Rouge running back also had a 4.37 5-10-5 shuttle. Arkansas State is Morgan’s lone offer at the moment, but Louisiana Tech, South Alabama, Southeastern and McNeese are all monitoring him.
Pazon is a 2021 wide receiver out of Edna Karr and he was one of the top testers Saturday. At 6-foot-1, 179 pounds, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds and the short shuttle in 4.26 seconds. Pazon has interest in LSU, Maryland and Tennessee.
Shoulders drew attention at the combine the minute he stepped onto the field. He’s a 6-foot-6, 336-pound offensive lineman out of Athens, Ala. with an offer from South Alabama. He moved well for his size, he showed some agility and earned an invite to Sunday’s camp. He is drawing interest from Alabama and Troy.
Tapp grabbed our attention instantly. As a class of 2022 defensive end, Tapp showed up at 6-foot-3 and 229 pounds. A member of Ascension Catholic’s state championship runner-up squad, Tapp posted a 5-second 5-10-5 shuttle with a 7.69 cone drill, a 103 broad and 27-inch vertical. Memphis is showing early interest in the soon-to-be sophomore.
Townsend impressed physically at the combine, measuring in at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds. He is receiving early interest from LSU, Arkansas and Tulane. The John Ehret product posted a 97 broad jump and a 22.7 vertical and also clocked a 4.74 5-10-5 shuttle as a big, physical pass-catcher.
CAMPERS SHINE AT COMBINE
Two prospects that already had invites to Sunday's camp, three-star defensive back Jadarrius Clark and three-star athlete Trenayvian Amos, arrived in New Orleans early and decided to go through the combine.
Clark clocked a 4.6 40 time along with a 28-inch vertical, 119 broad and 4.36 5-10-5 shuttle. LSU and TCU are the programs pushing hardest for the Alexandria hybrid cornerback.
Amos, who also impressed at the Rivals adizero Combine in Houston last month, maintained that momentum with a 4.48 40 time. The 6-foot-1, 176-pound do-it-all athlete posted an impressive 111 broad, 30.4-inch vertical and 7.08-second three-cone drill.
